My wife has had serious bouts with allergies all her life, but this seasonal misery is somewhat new for me, which begs the question, "Why am I experiencing these symptoms now?" Perhaps it's age-related, although allergies seem to affect young and old alike. Could our outdoor condi- tions be worsening with more aero- solized allergy-triggering materials? Or, are allergic reactions linked to our indoor environmental conditions— such as exposures a variety of chem- icals from products and materials, as well as microbiological agents? The reality, of course, is some combination of all these factors and more. We spend a ton of time indoors each day, so it is a logical conclusion that those spaces may be contributing to some of the negative effects from exposures to outdoor irritants like pol- len and other airborne particulates. In this month's issue we have fea- tures that discuss how ventilation can affect your indoors, along with some great healthy home tips in our Con- sumer Section. Jeff May talks about dust mites, Allison Bailes returns with a look at high-efficiency filtration, and Alice Delia explains some of the common misconceptions with low or no-VOC paints. We are also pleased to welcome our new columnist, Tom Murray, with his Sustainability Snip- pets monthly feature! 6 | June 2019 Bob Krell Founder & Publisher Summertime, Summertime…
