Healthy Indoors | 15 IAQ & Energy to Explore Low-Cost Air Sensors Dr. Eben Cross, co-founder of QuantAC in Somerville, Massachusetts, will be at the IAQ & Energy Symposium, hosted by the Maine Indoor Air Quality Conference on March 3, to discuss how low-cost air quality sensors are impacting the consumers and industry professionals. The show will be held in-person in Augusta, Maine. Dr. Cross has spent the last 17 years study- ing things in both the indoor and outdoor air that impact climate and human health. His work led him to research and development of unique air quality sensor networks. In June 2019, he co-founded QuantAQ, where he and his team have continued to push the bound- aries of what's possible when you combine low-cost sensors with a strong fundamental understanding of atmospheric chemistry, air pollution, and modern software engineering. The airborne nature of the pandemic has significantly increased public awareness and engagement around the topic of in- door air quality. Building system functions for ventilation and filtration are now con- sidered critical need-to-know informa tion by most building occupants. Real-time tools that inform people about their ev- eryday indoor air quality are now becom- ing accessible. Attendees will learn: • Gain a deeper appreciation of the utility of low-cost in-situ, size-resolved aerosol mea- surements in indoor environments. • Understand how to apply particle sensors in a practical manner to validate in-room ventilation rates and filtration efficiencies. • Understand the limits of consumer-grade The 2022 RESNET in-person Conference was recently postponed by the group's Board of Directors. In a statement, the event change was "due to the surge of the latest variant of COVID-19. Registrations have been so low that RESNET could not guaran- tee the experience of a RESNET Conference that people have learned to expect. We will, however, host an impactful and entertaining RESNET 2022 Virtual Conference." The three-day in-person event in Aus- RESNET Postpones In-Person Show Sessions tin, Texas, was a commitment the Board made in 2021. It was expected to include a two-day pre-conference full of networking opportunities, keynote speakers, and ed- ucational breakout sessions from industry experts. RESNET is expected to regroup to hold an online version of the event soon. All sessions in person were to be pre-re- corded for viewing for a Virtual Conference May 3 rd -5 th , where attendees could earn 18 Professional Development Credits. The RESNET 2022 online event will still include sessions on: • Business Development Strategy • Navigating Finance and Real Estate • High-Performance Affordable Homes • Performance-Based Energy Homes • Steering Energy Policy and Programs • Path to Net-Zero Carbon Homes • The New Frontier for HERS and RESNET • Latest in Building Science, Water Efficien- cy, and Health For more information or to register for the online event, go to www.resnet.us. sensors when applied to IAQ contexts. • Understand how to reconcile CO 2 -de- rived and aerosol-derived decay rates (i.e., air change rates). • Gain a better understanding of how outdoor air quality can impact indoor air quality under certain circumstances (woodsmoke, near-road transportation emissions, etc.) Online education events have been great, but the upcoming IAQ & Energy Symposium will give you the one thing that virtual events can't give you: face-to- face engagement with other professionals. You'll spend your day networking, sharing resources, and creating new relationships. Attendees can expect: • 5 Hours of Training with CEUs • 3 Hours of Interpersonal Learning and Engagement • 15+ Table Talks • 5+ Learning Stations • Networking • Sponsor Tables You can find out more about the event at their website at www.iaqandenergy.com.
