4 | July 2022 Bob Krell Founder & Publisher Publisher's Rant T he indoor environmental quali- ty/indoor air quality (IEQ/IAQ) industry is indeed a broad tent, encompassing numerous sec- tors with a wide variety of disciplines, ser- vices, and products. While there has been talk about the need for collaboration and cross-pollination between these various sectors for years, we collectively remain siloed for the most part. This is not to say that there is altogether no interaction— some does occur. But those dealings are often more of a one-to-one exchange, rather than an orchestrated, broader, cross-disciplinary exchange. To date, our industry hasn't really fo- cused on facilitating collaboration among the silos and the different organizations that represent each of them. They typical- ly stay focused on their own flocks. I truly believe there is an interest in accomplish- ing this on an individual basis, and even more importantly, a need to do so on a wider scale, as clearly illustrated by the COVID-19 pandemic. For better or worse, the world is indeed a smaller place now, and our collective efforts are essential to weather the challenges ahead for all of us. Our team at Healthy Indoors has recog- nized this for years, and we have worked to help make this essential cross-pollination happen. The culmination of these efforts was the launch of our Healthy Indoors® Online Global Community platform months back. Our initial incarnation of the Com- munity offered a glimpse of what could be achieved by bringing these diverse si- los together to interact under a collective virtual tent. In the upcoming months, we will be rolling out some significant changes that we believe will take our platform to the next level. Two of those will be revamp- ing our membership tiers and partnering with several prominent industry organi- zations to expand the Community's reach, visibility, and content. Our goal is to make this platform a central hub of networking, information sharing, and learning for IEQ/ IAQ-centric topics worldwide. We are ex- cited to help usher in a new era of collab- oration and exchange for the industry, and welcome everyone to become part of this global community!
