Cruising through the Home Depot in Salem, N.H., last summer, Healthy Indoors found the national
retailer offering Lead Safe RRP certification and Mold Remediation training. (RRP stands for EPA's
Renovation, Repair and Painting rule.) Is Home Depot the latest company to train and certify the
contractors that come into their store every day for supplies? Doesn't look that way. Home Depot
kicked off Pro Xtra Education in 2012, and held courses from August to December. Currently, there are
no plans to do more courses this year, according to company reps we talked to. Home Depot partnered
with Hanley-Wood University, publisher of Builder magazine, for the two-part lead course, and Concrobium Professional Products for mold. Both partners have items stocked on Home Depot shelves.

Is That Wall Dry Yet?
Tech Focus will put the spotlight

for when a water-damaged building
is really dry? We talk to scientist
Brady Carter to find out.
