ried that similar problems will occur with the new
NFIP claims from these recent events. With sig-
nificantly more flood-affected properties this time,
their fears may not be unfounded, given FEMA's
past track record.
One particular area of concern stems from a
2013 FEMA Claims Guidance Structural Drying
directive regarding the NFIP, which was issued
to adjusters processing flood-damage claims. It
states that, "…drying should be performed for 1,

Are You in Good Hands?
There are nearly three million NFIP policies in
effect for the areas hit by Hurricane Harvey and
Hurricane Irma in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida,
as show on the NFIP by-state map. All of these
insured properties are under the mandates of this
federal program.
