I
n my last editorial, I closed with the
comment, "…While things may never
truly be the way they were before the
pandemic, the 'new normal' is evolving."
That may prove to be my biggest under-
statement for 2022 to date.
My life had indeed returned to a
state of somewhat normal, at least by
post-pandemic standards. Mask wearing
seemed to almost be a thing of the past,
albeit excluding donning them for trips
to the doctor's office. Social distancing?
Sure, still doing it, I guess. But that could
be equally due to my dislike of being in
crowds anyway. The pandemic may have
just given me license to practice distancing
myself from other humans without guilt.
I greatly limited my national travel
during the pandemic—pretty much only
for paid consulting gigs. And then, only
when equipped with an Easy Flo respira-
tor (mini-HEPA, wearable half-face, pow-
ered air-purifying respirator). I was leery
of being in international airports, and
of course spending hours in very close
proximity to strangers seated around me
in the flying buses.

sions were behind me when I took
